Transportation

Buses and trains are the main modes of transportation in and out of FIGUERES. History has it that the Jews were commanded to settle in FIGUERES by the Crown Prince, Prince Peter, during the mid 13th century.

Main Tourist Spot

The town itself may not be as outstanding or appealing to the tourists as the museum in its midst.

 

FIGUERES is a small provincial town in the region of Catalonia with just 30,000 residents.

Nevertheless, FIGUERES is popular for Barcelonans who want a short day trip holiday. The bus station is located a short distance away from the train station on the left with many information booths on the outside for the tourists’ convenience.

At night, there is the feisty dancing and music known as ‘rambla’ with great food at rock bottom prices, and pleasant accommodations. If you are craving some real regional cuisine, try the Hotel Duran which is located at Rambla for some upper-class setting; of course, the price is on par with the food and setting. There is a huge open market on Thursdays at the town’s main square that offers a variety of local foods and crafts. A bus ride takes 90 minutes at least to arrive at FIGUERES.FIGUERES is a small provincial town in the region of Catalonia with just 30,000 residents. The museum is really the main tourist attraction, but there are some other pleasantries if you make time to discover what the slow paced town has to offer. The town is easy to find from the train station by following the museum signage. However, with the long distance, an early morning start gives you the advantage of reaching this sleepy hollow in good time to view the place and surrounding area.

There is a splatter of restaurants at the narrow streets surrounding the Dali museum which cater to tourists, especially the ones on c/Jonquera Street. This ancient museum was built by the renowned Salvador Dalí and exhibits great relic pieces that draw crowds to this sleepy hollow. These operate many times a day with a time of one and a half hours from Barcelona. The menu offers a wide selection of palatable local tastes, while more common tourist’s fare can be found in the Rambla cafes, such as sandwiches and snacks
